Mothers of Young Children (MOYC) Clothing and Toy A Ministry of West End Assembly of God Volunteer Information Thank you for volunteering with the Mothers of Young Children Clothing and Toy Sale. We rely on over 300 volunteers to make this event run smoothly each spring and fall, and we are so glad that you chose to spend time with us. Volunteer shifts are 3 hours in length and are available for various time slots on Wednesday evening, Thursday afternoon and evening, Friday evening, and throughout the day on Saturday. You may choose the area in which you would like to work, based on availability. Volunteers are able to shop at a special Preview Sale on Friday from 4-8 p.m. No spouses, relatives, or friends will be allowed to accompany you, unless they are also working a 3 hour shift. There are no children allowed during this Friday night Preview Sale, with the exception of children over 12 being permitted between 6-8 p.m. For all shifts, you will be required to sign-in at the volunteer desk in the lobby of the gym where you will be given a nametag. This nametag will be your ?ticket? into the Preview Sale. The following is a brief description of the various volunteer opportunities: Cashiers (leaders: Augusta Jarvis, Nanette Smith) This takes place during sale hours on Friday evening and Saturday. Cashiers write down the codes on each tag, add totals, and collect cash or checks from shoppers. This is a very fast-paced job that requires accuracy and a positive attitude. Consignor Check-in Desk (leader: SuAnne Blair) This takes place on Thursday afternoon/evening. It involves greeting consignors, locating their name on the consignor list and verifying personal information, inputting consignor information into a computer program, and checking tags for proper consignor code. Door Greeters (leader: Sarah Irwin) This takes place during sale hours on Friday evening and Saturday. Door greeters give directions, answer questions, and check for nametags during the preview sale or admittance tickets during the half-price sale. Exit Doors (leader: Sarah Irwin) This takes place during sale hours on Friday evening and Saturday. Exit door workers check through all items purchased by shoppers to be sure the tags are marked with highlighter. A marked tag shows that the code has been written down by the cashier, and the consignor will be paid accordingly. Gym Floor Workers (leader: Gym Sorting (leaders: Liz Concepcion, Mary Beth Cloutier) This takes place on Thursday afternoon/evening. It involves assisting consignors in putting away their clothing, shoes, linens, and other accessories in their proper locations, and organizing/rearranging those items as needed in the gym. Also involves checking items for stains, holes, inappropriate season, and proper tagging/hanging. Set-up (leader: Beth Hamilton) This takes place on Wednesday evening. Set-up workers put together and arrange clothing racks, tables, chairs, and perform other misc. set-up duties in preparation for the sale. Toy Room Floor Workers (leader: Donna Washok) This takes place during sale hours on Friday evening and Saturday. Toy room floor workers put away items shoppers decided not to buy, stay aware of security issues, and organize and rearrange as needed. Toy Room Sorting (leader: Donna Washok) This takes place on Thursday afternoon/evening. It involves assisting consignors in putting away their toys, games, books, and baby equipment in their proper locations, and organizing/rearranging those items as needed in the fellowship hall, adjacent to the gym. Also involves checking items for excessive wear, appropriateness, and proper tagging. Volunteer Check-in Desk (leader: Lisa Boulton) This takes place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It involves greeting volunteers, locating their name on the volunteer list, giving nametags, and answering any questions associated with volunteering and/or shopping. Tear Down/Clean up (leader: Brian Johnson) This takes place after the sale is finished on Saturday afternoon.
